Anchored by junior Robbie Cozean and senior Dillon Selfors, Xavier finished third at the New England Championships in Manchester, New Hampshire with 111 points. La Salle Academy of Rhode Island won the title with 49 points and Bishop Hendricken was second with 80.
Hall of West Hartford was fourth with 169 points, Staples was fifth (193) and Suffield was sixth (208).
Cozean finished ninth in 16:14.6 and Selfors was 10th in 16:15.1. Senior Trey Cormier of Hall won the race in 15:56 and beat crosstown rival Conard freshman Gavin Sherry (15:57).
In the girls race, Kate Wiser of Pomperaug won in 18:04.1. Mari Noble of Greenwich was fourth in 18:51.6, Claire Daniels of New Milford was seventh in 18:57.3 and Meredith Bloss of Guilford was 33rd in 19:44.1.
Champlain Valley (Vt.) won the team title with 79 points, La Salle Academy (RI) was second (149) and Immaculate was third (187).
Hopkins finished fifth in both the boys and girls race at Byfield, Massachusetts.
Maliya Ellis finished fifth for the Hilltoppers in the girls race. Nic Burtson placed seventh in the boys race. Charlie Mason and David Judd placed 10th and 11th, respectively. All four runners earned All-NEPSTA laurels.
