commit to doing something you know you’ll never do, or if you do actually start, you’ll stop doing it by mid January. Why? Because it was probably stupid! Basketball team’s have resolutions, too. They’re usually about not losing and junk like that. But, we here at GametimeCT like to believe these teams think a little more creatively with their New Year’s resolutions. Mine is to eat more chocolate, I think I’ve really fallen off in the chocolate eating department. Enjoy!
CIAC’s New Year’s resolution is to….:Start the season earlier. Yes, everything and everyone must bow down to the almighty pigskin. Those 40-to-50 point blowouts are really a sight to behold. Not saying every girls basketball game in the state is a nail-biter either, but c’mon! However, I digress, Dec. 11 is far too late to start a 20-game season. College coaches can’t get out as easily because their season’s are already in full swing. Training camp is too short and could potentially lead to injury and sloppy, ugly early season play. The football season is a good 14-to-15 games shorter than a basketball season that could stretch to 28 games. However, football and basketball are both played in four months. Huh?
Cheshire’s New Year’s resolution is to…..: Get a little more respect in the SCC. The Rams should be well-respected with all their talent. However, opposing teams may not have known just how good Cheshire is with the duo of Missy Bailey and Sara Como. Como has been one of the season’s early unsung scoring leaders, averaging 11.6 points per game.
East Haven’s New Year’s resolution is to ….:Develop continuity as a unit. I watched the Yellow Jackets in a 20-point loss to Guilford two weeks ago. My takeaway from the game was this is very young team that is still learning things like talk on defense, box out, space the floor on offense, etc. However, East Haven is talented, with players like Jessica Benevento and Cailey Korwek. I don’t see any reason why they can’t play spoiler at season’s end
Hyde’s New Year’s Resolution is to…: Be more consistent. The Howling Wolves at times can look like a better team than last season’s. Then they can get blown out 55-25 to a very talented Coginchaug team. With top 25 senior guard Trayneice Mims and one of the best scorers in the Shoreline in Adasia Beard, one would believe that Hyde should never be held under 40, at least 30?
Your New Year’s resolution is to…: Put it in the comments…if you dare. Hahahaha *evil laugh*
