Brianna Buccitti pitched a complete game three-hitter and Cali Jolley and Kacy O’Connor each had two hits for the Eagles (14-8).
Sarah Lombardi had a two-run home run for the Indians, who was coming off winning their first SCC championship on Saturday.
No. 10 Guilford 11, No. 26 Mercy 1: Emily Torre belted a grand slam and Amanda King drove in three runs and struck out eight to lead the Indians to a CIAC Class L second-round win in Guilford. Ava Gladwin added three hits and an RBI, and Sara Barreira had two hits and two RBIs for the Indians.
No. 2 Hand 3, No. 18 Fitch 1: Caroline O’Connor had a triple and Christina Coric added an RBI single to lead the Tigers to their CIAC Class L second-round win in Madison. Abby Gershwind struck out eight for the Tigers. Meagan Giwoyna had two hits for Fitch.
No. 11 Lyman Hall 5, No. 6 Barlow 3: Morgan Tuscano had three hits and two RBIs and Maddie Shura added two hits and an RBI and struck out nine to lead the Trojans to their CIAC Class L second round win over defending L champ Barlow.
No. 2 North Branford 1, No. 18 Ellington 0: Katy Pedersen hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning driving in Angelina Ramada and Sydney Senerchia struck out 17 and allowed two hits to lead the Thunderbirds to a CIAC Class M second round win in North Branford. The Thunderbirds, ranked No. 3 in the Register Top 10 poll, improved to 25-0.
No. 4 Seymour 12, No. 13 Notre Dame-Fairfield 0: Becca Findley had three hits and five RBIs to lead the Wildcats, ranked No. 2 in the Register Top 10 poll, in the CIAC Class M second round in Seymour. Molly Adamo gave up four hits and struck out five. Morgan Teodosio added three hits for the Wildcats (24-1).
