Alex DeFrance had two goals, Jaiden Souza and Kelly Gamble had one goal apiece, and keeper Desiree Hinton made five saves for Middletown (3-1).
Briana Burt had two goals for Maloney (1-3).

MERCY 1, SHELTON 0>>Olivia Ozycz scored the game-winning goal in the 67th minute to lead the Tigers past the host Gaels late Tuesday night. Kendra Landry had the assist on Ozycz’s goal. Alyssa Morrissey preserved the shutout with four saves as Mercy improved to 2-1.
Jessica Wilm made seven saves for Shelton (0-2-1).
HALE-RAY 2, NORTH BRANFORD 0>>Jess Dombroski had two goals and Faith Cooley made three saves in the Little Noises (2-1) SLC win late Monday night at North Branford (0-3).

HAMDEN 2, MERCY 1>> Leah Ferriby and Sami Vivenzio each had one goal to lead the Green Dragons Tuesday night at Hamden. Abby Benchimol scored Mercy’s goal, with an assist from Kelly Brennan. The Tigers fell to 0-3.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
XAVIER SPLITS>>The Falcons defeated Hamden (21-39) and Lyman Hall (15-50) but were outrun by host Cheshire (24-33) Tuesday afternoon. Zach Williams and Jack O’Hara led Xavier by placing second and third, respectively. Williams’ runnerup time was 16:48, while O’Hara finished in 16:56.
Xavier’s other top finishers included Dan Hergott (ninth, 17:50), Ethan Rodrigues (12th, 18:07), Graham Gilarde (13th, 18:09), Matt Welch (14th, 18:15) and Nick Sowa (16th, 18:31).

MORGAN 3, HALE-RAY 0>> Sami Ashton had seven kills and 10 digs, while Lily Dawson had 32 assists as the Huskies remained unbeaten with a 25-15, 25-14, and 25-20 SLC win Wednesday at Clinton. Jordan Ziobron had seven kills and Lauren Turner had 15 digs for the Little Noises (2-1). Morgan is 4-0.
VALLEY REGIONAL 3, NORTH BRANFORD 0>> Michaela Pace had 18 assists and three kills to lead the Warriors past the Thunderbirds 25-16, 25-23, and 25-23 Wednesday at Deep River. Leah Sopneski had seven digs and five kills for Valley (2-2). Rachel Funaro had eight digs and Deanna Gallo had three kills for the T-birds (0-2).
