SOFTBALL: Stamford 9, Ridgefield 2: Jordan Rossi tossed a complete-game, three-hitter with 10 strikeouts and belted a three-run homer Wednesday as the Stamford High School softball team downed Ridgefield High, 9-2 at home.
Other standouts for Stamford (3-1, 1-1 FCIAC) included Amy Covino (two-run homer), Abby Hogan (double, two-run HR) and Sarah Wargo (two hits).
For Ridgefield (1-5, 1-1 FCIAC), Alyssa DeStefano had a two-run homer while Julia Clavi doubled.
SOFTBALL: Westhill 17, Central 0 (5): Betsy Sachs had three hits including a homer and a double while Kristen Halligan added three hits and three runs scored as the Westhill High softball team downed Central, 17-0 in five innings.
Olivia Butler homered and hurled the final innings while Maddy Cortell pitched three innings for the win for Westhill.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Darien 3, Stamford 0: Tyler Herget collected 18 service points including seven aces along with nine kills as Darien High swept Stamford High, 25-11, 25-8, 25-9 Wednesday on the road.
Piers Roofhooft added 12 service points and 11 kills while Jackson Leone contributed 24 assists for Darien (4-1, 4-0 FCIAC).
BOYS TENNIS: Westhill 7, Danbury 0: Westhill improved to 3-1 with Wednesday’s triumph. Singles winners for the Vikings were Jordan Soifer, Alex Reyes, Tyler Pomerance and Rohan Suryawanshi. In doubles, the duos of Rohit Jha/Gaurov Bansal, Greg Lebedev/Arjun Anand as well as Rutvik Marathe/Tristan Massa were victorious.
GIRLS TENNIS: Westhill 7, Danbury 0: Tamar Bellete, Martina Kaba, Sanjana Nayak and Jackie Kaba won in singles to lift Westhill (3-1) over Danbury.
In doubles, the pairs of Caitlyn Tyrrell/Nikki Economidis, Lexi Schultz/Malina Lasicki along with Alexa Smeriglio/Rebecca Friedlander were victorious for the Vikings.
BOYS TENNIS: GFA 6, King 1: Hugh Hentschel at No. 2 singles (2-6, 6-1, 10-4 tiebreaker) was the lone victor for King (1-2).
