TONIGHT it’s Eastern Connecticut’s most anticipated game of the year: A boys basketball showdown between ECC rivals No. 6 Waterford and No. 7 East Lyme. The game, which will be broadcast by GameDay at the Day of New London, is a rematch of last year’s ECC championship, won by Waterford.
Though Mikey Buscetto is gone, Waterford has proven itself a state title contender again, especially with its 66-65 victory over current No. 8-ranked Trumbull earlier this month.
East Lyme, which lost last year’s ECC final, returns star Dev Ostrowski and want to prove they’re top dog in the region and state.
It’s the first of two meetings between the two heavyweights and the first regular-season meeting since exactly a year ago, when East Lyme defeated Waterford 64-60 on Jan 18, 2018.
The next game will be at Waterford’s Francis X. Sweeney Field House on Feb. 12.
This first 2018-19 matchup, at East Lyme’s North Gym, is expected to be sold out. You can catch all the action right here at 7 p.m.
