Law’s Cole Egersheim was in for the treat of a lifetime when joined his game captains for the coin toss before Law’s game vs. Bethel in Milford Friday night.
His father, Joe Egersheim, a Master Sargent in the United States Army Reserve, who’d been deployed in Kuwait, was standing — disguised in a referees’ uniform — right in front of him.
Egersheim doubled over in disbelief when he suddenly recognized his dad, who’d been announced as an honorary referee beforehand.
They were quickly joined by Joe’s daughter Oliva, a Law cheerleader, amid cheers and applause from the crowd.
Law went on to defeat Bethel 34-21. Egersheim kicked three extra points.
