Welcome back to Uni-Browse, where we will be taking a deeper look at high school uniforms around the state and letting you vote for your favorite each week.
I have been a fan of uniforms for as long as I have been watching sports and it turns out, others are just as fascinated. I began writing about baseball uniforms several years ago on the HearstCT Baseball Blog and found out people are super into it.
GametimeCT provides the perfect platform to relaunch Uni-Browse and take a love of uniforms state wide.
Most of all, talking about uniforms is really fun and we here at GameTimeCT want to get you the fans in on the conversation.
Football is traditionally a conservative landscape of uniforms, but over the last decade that has changed and some teams are embracing new looks and designs, while others are keeping the classics in style.
We want to see the new, the old, the traditional and the alternates.
If you have a uniform you want us to check out, leave it in the comments below or hit up @EricsonSports or @GametimeCT on Twitter.
Make sure to vote in the poll at the bottom!
Here are your choices for this week.
Trinity has a new helmet decal this year, going with a large green “C” rather than the white “C” inside a green oval they had last season. The center stripe is white with green outlines. The jerseys are green with white numbers outlines in gold with a gold “Catholic” across the chest and gold collars. Trinity seems to be rebranding and using Catholic more than Trinity Catholic on uniforms now. The pants are gold with a white stripe outlined in green down the leg with the “C” again on the front left.
What else would be appropriate for the Green Wave to wear than all green uniforms? The helmets are white with the distinctive and well-designed green mountains logo and double green stripes down the center. The jerseys are green with white numbers and “Green Wave” across the chest. The shoulders have two white stripes with the number underneath lower on the arm. The pants are solid green with double white stripes down the side.
COGINCHAUG/HALE RAY/EAST HAMPTON
Classic royal blue helmets with bold red “C” on the side and no center stripe. Blue jerseys with white numbers and a red stripe outlined by thick white stripes on the sleeve with numbers under the stripes. Front of the jersey reads “Coginchaug.” Pants are pretty cool with a thick red stripe bordered in blue starting mid-hip and wrapping down the back of the legs. There is a small “Devils” on the top back of the pants near the waist.
The Jesuits busted out the all-red unis for the game against Shelton and while they lost the game, they won the uniform battle. Classic white helmets with “FP” on the side in red and a red stripe down the center. Jerseys are red with white numbers and “Jesuits” across the chest. There are numbers above a single white stripe on the shoulders. The pants were solid red with and interlocking “FP” on the upper left leg.
