I have been a fan of uniforms for as long as I have been watching sports and it turns out, others are just as fascinated. I began writing about baseball uniforms several years ago on the HearstCT Baseball Blog and found out people are super into it.
GametimeCT provides the perfect platform to relaunch Uni-Browse and take a love of uniforms state wide.
Most of all, talking about uniforms is really fun and we here at GameTimeCT want to get you the fans in on the conversation.
Football is traditionally a conservative landscape of uniforms, but over the last decade that has changed and some teams are embracing new looks and designs, while others are keeping the classics in style.
We want to see the new, the old, the traditional and the alternates.
Danbury won the poll last week with 49% of the votes.
If you have a uniform you want us to check out, leave it in the comments below or hit up @EricsonSports or @GametimeCT on Twitter.
Make sure to vote in the poll at the bottom.
Here are your choices for this week.
Black is far and away the best color for football uniforms. Evidence of that is that teams that do not have black as a primary school color, occasionally bust out black uniforms. At Law, black and gold are the school colors and the football uniforms reflect that with killer all-black uniforms. Black helmets with gold stripe down the middle and gold numbers on the side. Jerseys are black with gold numbers with no outline. There are three gold stripes on the sleeves and numbers high on the shoulders. On the right upper chest is a “SCC” patch and on the left upper chest is an interlocking “JL” inside a gold circle. The pants are black with a thick gold stripe down the legs.
Brookfield looks great at home in its all-blue uniforms. Helmets are royal blue with a gold bobcat on the side. Down the middle of the helmets are two gold stripes. The team also rewards players with helmet decals for good play. Jerseys are blue with gold numbers outlined in white and “BROOKFIELD” across the chest. The sleeves have a thick gold stripe above numbers on the lower part of the sleeve. The is also a gold collar on the jerseys. The pants are blue with gold spots right at the hip and mid-thigh, broken up by a slightly darker blue than the rest of the pants.
Who doesn’t enjoy a solid-gold helmet in football? New Britain rocks the gold helmets with a maroon “NB” in block letters on the side. The jerseys are maroon with gold numbers outlined in white. Across the chest it reads “NEW BRITAIN” in gold outlined in white. There are two broken stripes, one silver and a larger gold stripe on the sleeves and no numbers on the shoulders. The pants are gold with a pattern in slightly darker gold down the outside of each leg.
The Rams have been known to wear black, red, grey and even camo at home but we will focus on the classic black uniforms. The decals may change from time to time but the team still wears the classic red helmets with a thick black stripe outlined in white down the middle. Though they have had ram horns at times, the team is back to the interlocking “NC” on the helmets. Saturday against Greenwich, the “NC” was a reflective silver though it has been black in the past. Jerseys are black with silver numbers outlined in red with a silver shield at the neckline with “NC” on it. Sleeves have two silver stripes across top and a thin red stripe above silver numbers on the sleeve. The back of the jersey features a ram on the back nameplate. The pants are solid black with “NC” on the upper left.
