Welcome back to another season of #TweetYourBuzzerBeaters, our series in chronicling the best play in basketball — the game-winning shot at the horn — at the local level.
It’s pretty simple. Everybody’s got a phone with recording capabilities for the most part, yes? Well, if you find yourself at a tight game and seconds ticking down, whip the phone out (remembering to *tilt it sideways* because portrait mode is bad) and record the final shot.
Then you just post it on Twitter with the hashtag #TweetYourBuzzerBeaters, so we can all see it and show it off to everybody. Winning buzzer-beaters will get posted here. (Varsity only, please. Unless you make a shot like this).
Now… to business. And it’s been busy in Durham.
The Coginchaug boys and girls teams have won with buzzer-beaters this season already.
The defending Class S champion girls basketball team tipped off the season with a wild winner from senior Jessi King, who launched a falling-down 3-point from the top of the circle to deliver the Blue Devils to a 52-49 victory over Valley Regional in the season opener on Dec. 12

King finished with 17 points in the victory and the team was nice enough to get a film of it for posting the day after. The win helped the girls jump out to a 3-0 start before losing to North Branford on Tuesday.
Not to be outdone, the boys added their own buzzer-beater Thursday night.
Junior Chris Onofrio‘s steal beneath the basket and put-back at the horn lifted Coginchaug to a 46-44 victory over Portland.

The victory was the Coginchaug boys’ second-straight following a 58-54 opening loss to Westbrook back on Dec. 13. They improved to 3-1.
Nice work, Coginchaug.
This has been #TweetYourBuzzerBeaters.
