It was yet another night of thrills in Connecticut boys basketball.
On Tuesday, we had three from Shelton’s Matt Terrasi felled Branford, Bunnell’s Zhyaire Fernandes topped New Fairfield and, finally, Waterford’s Colin Shannon broke Norwich Free Academy’s heart.
Tuesday’s Boys Basketball Roundup
To be perfectly fair, it’s the first two weren’t true buzzer-beaters, in that they both came with two ticks on the clock. The last one was a gem.
Let’s take a look, shall we?
Up in Shelton, Terrasi hit a 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds left to beat Branford, 47-44. It was a tough turnabout for Branford, which was coming off its own buzzer-beater the week before. H/T to Terrasi for sending this over.

Over in Bunnell, Zhyaire Fernandes did the same to New Fairfield with a 3-pointer to help the Bulldogs overcome what had been a disheartening 90-63 loss to Harding just a day before. This footage comes from @CTHoopsNews

But, that, too wasn’t quite a buzzer beater.
Now, Shannon’s shot… THAT was a buzzer-beater.
From The Day of New London’s live broadcast of the game, here’s Shannon, a junior, doing his best impression of Connor Lewis, his former teammate who happens to be the all-time king of GameTimeCT #TweetYourBuzzerBeaters (remember him???).
Down 63-62 with a mere 0.6 left on the click, Waterford needed something immediately. Sophomore Michael Buscetto fed Shannon, who grabbed and immediately hoisted the ball off the glass for the winning layup as the buzzer sounded in a stunning 64-63 Lancers victory.
Awesome. Just Awesome.
