Pardon us while we catch up on some #TweetYourBuzzerBeaters from the last few weeks…
While most of us were in our post-Christmas, pre-New Years hibernation, Rockville’s boys basketball team was performing a little court magic during its first few games.
Back on December 19, in the season opener vs. Bolton, sophomore Alex Deane thrilled the home crowd by capping a wild finish with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer in a 46-45 victory.
Nice way to start the new basketball season, right?
Three games and 11 days later, the Rams ended 2017 with a glorious double whammy: Back-to-back buzzer beaters in an overtime victory over Amistad.
Down three with 10 seconds remaining, guard Mason Resendes sent the game to OT with a 24-footer at the horn.
Impressive, no doubt.
But fate had another challenge for the Rams. Down one with 4.4 seconds remaining, Rockville went the length of the floor again and Lorenzo Percy drilled the winning 3-pointer with two defenders draped over him.
Resendes finished with 25 points and Percy had 20 in the 63-61 victory.
Watch it all go down in our little highlight package, above.
So, to recap, that’s three buzzer-beaters in two games over 11 days. As of this writing Rockville is 4-2 thanks to those clutch hoops.
Not a bad way to ring in the new year.
