The big storyline heading into Friday’s SCC boys basketball tilt between Guilford and Sheehan was showdown of DeMaios: Guilford coach Jeff DeMaio and his son Samuel, a senior with Sheehan. They are, of course, the son and grandson of the great local sports broadcaster George DeMaio, who was in attendance doing the game for WELI.
While that storyline provided its share of theatrics, it was Kyle Brennan who stole the show for Sheehan in its 75-69 overtime victory.
With Guilford up 61-58 and seconds left in regulation, Brennan threw up a prayer that banked in at the buzzer to force overtime. On the strength of that shot, Guilford went on to win, 75-69.
Above is the student section version of the shot, provided by Sheehan HS.
The Record Journal of Meriden’s Justin Weekes also captured the miraculous shot, which you can watch, below.
