From the man who brought you a buzzer-beater to fell Stamford in last year’s Class LL tournament’s first round, Greenwich’s Conor Harkins got right back to work in the Cardinals’ first home game of 2016-17.
With Greenwich and Darien engaged in a tight, overtime battle Thursday night, the senior guard delivered for the Cardinals with the winning 3-pointer at the buzzer at the top of the key in a 61-58 victory.
And, just like when he bested Stamford, Harkins swaggered his way up court like Steph Curry as his teammates mobbed him back toward the other end of the gymnasium.
Harkins’ winning basket accounted for three of his team-high 20 points, including all seven of Greenwich’s OT points.
The victory was Greenwich’s first of the young season after starting 0-2.
