This is easily the best #TweetYourBuzzerBeaters of the young season.
East Lyme was tied with Montville and had time to work for one last shot in overtime of an ECC battle at home Tuesday night.
The Vikings might have drawn up the play, but it must have felt like eternity for its result to bear fruit in the form of a victory.
Off an inbounds play just over midcourt, the ball found its way to sophomore guard Luke Leonard on the right wing. He shook off a defender and drove inside where he was met with a large Montville defender.
Fortunately, junior J.D. Gandenberger found himself all alone behind the 3-point line as the Montville players collapsed back to the basket to defend Leonard. It was almost too easy for the kick out pass.
Gandenberger got the ball and launched an uncontested shot that was just short.
But Gandenberger got a sweet bounce off the front of the rim. As the buzzer sounded, the ball floated for a second and fell through for the 57-54 victory and a wild celebration from the home crowd.

East Lyme improved to 4-1 heading into a non-conference game vs. Creed on Thursday. As for Montville, it was a tough way to follow up its first victory of the year (61-48 over Griswold). The Indians fell to 1-5.
