Wolcott Tech girls cross country runner Alicia Winn set a course record during a 15-47 win over Bullard Havens Tuesday afternoon. Winn finished first with a time of 19:35 in her fourth race of the season. Leah Frazier finished second while Richelle Prince finished third. Wolcott Tech is 8-0.
Lewis Mills 21, Northwestern 38 >> The Spartans (5-2) turned the tide in the girls race at Northwestern (3-4). The order of finish was 1. Nonnewaug 20, Thomaston 38; Nonnewaug 18, Litchfield 40; Nonnewaug 15, Gilbert 45; Litchfield 27, Thomaston 28 >> Nonnewaug’s Hanna Gregory (20:30) led the Chiefs to three wins at Black Rock State Park’s 3.1-mile course. Litchfield, led by fifth-place-overall Hannah Curran took two wins; and Thomaston, led by Sammi Breier’s second-place finish took one. Nonnewaug’s Sarah Woodward, Brooke Andrew, MacKenzie Latenschlager, Greer Hanley and Taylor DiCiccio were third, fourth, sixth, ninth and 10th. Thomaston’s Charlotte Eberhardt was seventh. Litchfield’s Claudia Dematteis was eighth. The Nonnewaug girls are 6-1; Litchfield 4-4; Thomaston 3-4; Gilbert 0-8.

Bullard Havens 27, Wolcott Tech 28 >> The Wildcats fell to Bullard Havens Tuesday afternoon. Wolcott Tech’s Ben Koonz, Rob Ariola, and Zach Koonz finished third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Northwestern 16, Lewis Mills 40 >> Peter Bakker set a new course record (16:10) at undefeated (7-0) Northwestern’s 3.1-mile course, leading the Highlanders to five of the first six places. Gavin Woodward, Connor Spencer and Sean Labbe followed Bakker across the finish line for Northwestern. Mills’ Chris Case was fifth; then Sam Schiffer finished off the win for the Highlnders. Spartans Nate Virovoy, Jack Keegan, and Owen Lacourciere rounded out the top 10 for Mills (4-3). Northwestern’s Reg Denny was ninth.
Litchfield 28, Thomaston 29; Litchfield 19, Nonnewaug 44; Litchfield 15, Gilbert 50; Thomaston 20, Nonnewaug 39; Thomaston 15, Gilbert 48; Nonnewaug 18, Gilbert 39 >> Conor Courtney (18:05) was first overall leading the Cowboys to three wins at Black Rock State Park. Mateo Tiul, Peter Whibey, Shawn Chen and Antonio Muratori followed him in fifth, seventh, ninth and 10th. Nonnewaug’s D.J. Geissinger-Tuttle was second; Thomaston’s Noe Gaudette, Steve Scougall, Dylan Drasnowski and Jake Morneulth were third, fourth, sixth and eighth. Litchfield is 6-2; Thomaston, 4-3; Nonnewaug 4-3; Gilbert 0-8.
Terryville 0, Litchfield 0 >> Terryville and Litchfield played to a scoreless tie Tuesday afternoon. Kangaroos goalie Josh Mazur made 10 saves on 14 shots while Cowboys keeper Nick Andron made seven saves on nine shots. Terryville is 4-3-1, Litchfield is 4-2-2.
Nonnewaug 10, Gilbert 0 >> Nonnewaug’s offense was firing on all cylinders Tuesday afternoon, scoring seven goals in the first half against Gilbert. The Chiefs’ Conor Coleman and Luke Shea led the way with two goals each. Nathan Firlings recorded a goal and two assists. Nonnewaug’s Ryan Rescsanski made two saves. Gilbert keeper Austin Stoeke made 10 saves.
Wamogo 3, Shepaug 0 >> Strong defense and timely scoring helped Wamogo get past Shepaug. The Warriors’ Ryan DeLello scored two goals in the win while Matt Rollins added another. Shepaug’s Clayton Schnieder made 10 saves. Wamogo’s Max Loomis made 14 saves. Wamogo is 4-3-1, Shepaug is 0-8.
Shepaug 2, Wamogo 2 >> Tuesday’s Berkshire League matchup between Shepaug and Wamogo ended in a draw. The Spartans’ Nathalie Diller and Grace Wagnblaseach scored a goal. The Warriors’ Brooke Neller scored both goals for Wamogo.
Lewis Mills 5, Northwestern 1 >> The Spartans (7-1) bounced back from their first Berkshire League loss since 2012 (43 straight games), to Housatonic last week, with a solid win over Northwestern (5-2-1) Tuesday evening at Nassahegan Field. Senior Jenny Merritt and junior Julia Robillard scored two goals apiece for the Spartans (7-1). Sophomore Alyssa Wrabel had a goal and an assist and sophomore Chloe Waldron had two assists. Junior Cally Roy chipped in with an assist. Lauren McCard made three first half saves for Mills while Mel Senk made one in the second half. Julie Smith scored in the first half for Northwest (5-2-1) while goalie Gina Weingart made 15 saves in the net.
Housatonic 7, Thomaston 1 >> Amanda Jacquier, Chloe Dakers and Ann Bosio scored all scored twice for the Mountaineers. Lauren Segalla scored once at Thomaston. Samantha Brostek put in the goal for Thomaston as Golden Bear keeper Camryn Capaldo stayed busy with 22 saves.
Torrington 3, Wolcott 1 >> Behind Jayleen Colon’s big game, Torrington got past NVL rival Wolcott. Colon recorded 31 assists, four digs and three aces in the victory. Torrington won 22-25, 29-27, 25-20, 25-21. Wolcott’s Monika Neal had 18 kills, six digs, two assists and one ace. Torrington is 9-1, Wolcott is 4-6.
Northwestern 3, Housatonic 0 >> Northwestern earned its seventh victory of the season after defeating Housatonic. The Highlanders won 25-10, 25-13, 25-11. Northwestern’s Molly Clarke recorded 10 kills, two aces and 12 digs. Housatonic’s Marge Riccardelli had one kill, four blocks and two digs. Northwestern is 7-2, Housatonic is 1-7.
Nonnewaug 3, Gilbert 0 >> Nonnewaug defeated Gilbert in straight sets. The Chiefs won 25-14, 25-18, 25-14. Gilbert’s Ali Brochu recorded four kills and 14 digs. Alexis Johnson-Blue had three kills, one ace and five digs. Nonnewaug is 5-4, Gilbert is 4-6.
