Weston’s girls track and field team won a 11th-consecutive championship and the Masuk boys team won its first title at the SWC championships Monday at Bethel High School.
Weston’s girls amassed 126 1/2 points to overtake second-place Newtown’s 91. Weston’s only first place finish was a victory in the 4×100 (a team of Erin O’Connell, Hannah Greene, Hannah Campos and Nathalie Feingold). Their top individual performers were second-place finishers Feingold (100 hurdles, triple jump), Rhemi Toth (800), Danielle Cass (pole vault) and Ursula Alwang (javelin).
Barlow’s Grace Blackwell won all three sprints (100, 200, 400). Mia Nahom of New milford took the 1,600 and 3,200. Notre Dame-Fairfield’s Jenna Dorosh claimed the javelin and triple jump.
Masuk’s boys were led by first-place finishes in the field events. Jack Gaber won the javelin and Justin Cohen won the long jump.
Pomperaug’s Carl Marshall won both the 110 and 300 hurdles. New Fairfield’s Mike Rautter won the 1,600 and 3,200. Newtown’s Jack Godfrey won the discus and the shot put. Weston’s boys swept the relay events with victories in the 4×100, 4×400 and 4×800. Bunnell won both short sprint events Elisee Ngbo took the 100 and Elijah Henry the 200.
