Norwich Free Academy’s boys and East Lyme’s girls won the Eastern Connecticut Conference championship meets Saturday at Waterford.
East Lyme’s girls team ended NFA’s run of eight consecutive titles. The Vikings, who were led by Haley Ashton’s wins in the 100-meter hurdles and as a member of the 4×400-meter relay team, earned 88 points to edge Griswold’s 75 and NFA’s 67.
Griswold was led by Kalli-Ana Botelho’s triple victories in the 100, 200 and the high jump. Ledyard’s Megan Brawner won the 800 and 1,600.
Montville’s Ying Zi Huang won the triple jump and Naomi Clark the javelin. NFA’s Kelsie Hall won the pole vault.
NFA got victories from Connor Gralton (1,600), Nick Fitch (800), Marcus Gates (high jump), Jacob Slowik (long jump) and J’Von Brown (shot put) on its way to amassing 136.5 points to beat second-place Fitch (109).
Stonington’s Cam Whalen (110) and Lincoln Robinson (300) won the hurdle events. Ledyard’s Herman Winston won two events, the 100 and 200, and teammate Collin Wiltshire won the triple jump.
