The Darien Blue Wave was knocked from the unbeaten ranks this weekend, but remained the unanimous choice for the No.1 ranking in the Top 10 Girls Lacrosse Coaches Poll for week four.
Both of the poll’s top two teams lost at the Gains for Brains tournament at Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., this weekend, with Darien falling to Eastport South Manor 10-9 and New Canaan losing to Cold Spring Harbor 11-9.
New Canaan, which has been ranked No. 2 since the start of the season, has a big week ahead, as the Rams host No. 3 Wilton at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, and No. 1 Darien at 4 p.m., Saturday.
While the top 10 teams remained the same in this week’s poll, there were some minor shifts.
No. 4 Staples and No. 5 Cheshire traded places and were separated by a single point, while Ridgefield jumped over Greenwich and into the No. 6 spot.
Once again, the FCIAC remained the dominant conference with seven of the top eight teams. The SCC had two teams in the top 10 and the SWC has one.
