Middletown wins by one-point >> The Blue Dragons edged Bristol Central, 169-168, to win the Central Connecticut Conference South Division track and field championship on Wednesday at Bristol Eastern High School.
The host Lancers placed third with 106.50 points.
The team scores included Maloney (70), Plainville (70), Berlin (48), Platt (34.5) and Bulkeley (31).
The Blue Dragons 4×100 meter relay team of London Highsmith, Jeremy Perry, Jacob Homar, and Kareem Brackett set the tone by winning in 43.79 seconds.
Brackett also won the 200 meter dash in 23.08 seconds.
Laurenzo Thompkins was the runner-up in both the 110 hurdles (16.75) and 300 hurdles (43.49).
Ben Schaff finished second in the 1600 (4:34.52), Shawn Houle was second in the 400 (54.02), while Brackett was second in the 100 (11.39).
Julian Carraway was the runner-up in the javelin (147-04), while Perry was second in the high jump (5-10).

Middletown third in CCC South >> The Blue Dragons placed third with 105.50 points at the Central Connecticut Conference South Division track and field championship on Wednesday at Bristol Eastern High School.
Bristol Central won the title with 179.50 points, while runners-up Berlin had 133 points.
The team scores included Bristol Eastern (89), Platt (83), Maloney (59), Plainville (39) and Bulkeley (6).
Middletown’s 4×100 meter relay team of Arabia Henley, Amanda Bomely, Jennifer Barbour and Rajeen Mayo finished first in 50.46 seconds.
Mayo also won both the long jump (16-05) and triple jump (34-02) titles.
The 4×400 meter relay team of Natekuor Adjoka-Nartey, Lexi Collins, Azsha Ray, and Shariffa Mason placed second (4:32.28).
Brielle Wilborn was the runner-up in the shot put (31-00.50).
