Thursday's NH County CIAC girls volleyball roundup: Chehsire, Amity set to meet in Class LL quarterfinals

No. 8 Amity 3, No. 9 South Windsor 0 >>
Amanda Vecchio went 14-for-14 serving and had six kills and Julia Bedini went 11-for-11 serving with four kills to lead the Spartans to their second round win in Woodbridge. Amity won 25-11, 25-21, 25-17.

Claire Foster added 11 digs and Kathryn Pisano had 33 assists for the Spartans. (18-4). Meg Macomber had three kills, five digs and 11 service points for the Bobcats (16-5).

No. 1 Cheshire 3, No. 17 Norwich Free Academy 1 >>
Sarah Rodgers had 20 assists, eight digs and two aces to lead the Rams to their second round win in Cheshire. The Rams won 25-14, 15-25, 25-15, 25-16.

Becca Legi added 10 kills and three digs, Jill Howard had eight kills and four blocks and Maria Buzzelli had 16 digs and two aces for the Rams (24-0).

Class L
No. 5 Mercy 3, No. 12 Masuk 1 >>
Jessica Hoops had 40 assists and Mckenzie Dugan had 10 kills and a block to lead the Tigers to their second round win at Middletown. Mercy won 18-25, 25-10, 25-16, 25-21.
Shytasia Williams had six aces and 10 digs for the Tigers (19-3).

Class M
No 6 Foran 3, No. 11 Ellington 1 >> Bryzy Gonski had 40 assists and six aces and Janae Owen added 11 kills to lead the Lions to their second-round win in Milford Wednesday. Foran won 19-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-18.
Abby Amann added seven kills and six aces for the Lions (13-6).

Amity 3, South Windsor 0

Game scores: Amity 25-11, 25-21, 25-17.
Notes: South Windsor-Meg Macomber had 3 kills, 5 digs, and 11 service points; Amity-Amanda Vecchio went 14-for-14 serving and had 6 kills, Julia Bedini went 11-for-11 serving with 4 kills, Claire Foster had 11 digs and Kathryn Pisano added 33 assists. Amity moves on to the Class LL quarterfinals.
