Hamden’s 46-44 victory over Trumbull not only put the Green Dragons back in the good graces of voters in the GameTimeCT Top 10 Girls Basketball poll, but it has suddenly added a little extra intrigue to Saturday’s matchup between Norwalk and New London.
Hamden’s win knocked Trumbull out of the No. 2 spot and replaced it with unbeaten Norwalk, making Saturday’s game at New London a battle of No. 1 vs. No. 2.
New London picked up five first-place votes. Norwalk claimed the remaining two. Tipoff at Conway Gym is 3 p.m.
While no new teams joined the Top 10 this week, the rankings did get jumbled a bit. Norwalk, Hamden, East Haven and Windsor moved up. Trumbull, Newtown and Kolbe Cathedral moved down.
No. 1 New London, No. 4 Notre Dame-Fairfield and No. 10 Newington stayed in place.
