With Hamden’s 49-46 loss to Mercy, New London corralled more support as the state’s No. 1 team in the latest GameTimeCT Top 10 Girls Basketball Poll.
The Whalers, whose only loss is out-of-state, picked up four first-place votes — essentially Hamden’s from last week — and now hold 14 overall, giving them a 10-point edge for No. 1.
The other six first-place votes went to unbeaten Trumbull, which moved back to No. 2 with 572 total votes.
Fellow FCIAC unbeaten Norwalk moved a spot to No. 3 and Notre Dame-Fairfield bumped up to No. 4. Hamden, meanwhile, fell to No. 5.
The rest of the Top 10 remained the same from last week with the exception of No. 10 where Newington assumes the spot vacated by East Catholic.
