If the preseason poll is any indication, girls basketball should be quite entertaining for the 2018-19 season.
Mercy, the Class LL champion from last season, had 11 first-place votes, but SCC foe East Haven placed second, just one point behind, with no first place votes. Yet five teams received No. 1 votes from our 18 voters.
25 PLAYERS TO WATCH THIS SEASON
Each of those receiving first-place votes will compete in Class LL this season.
They include:
New London, last year’s Class LL top seed, who was upset by Enfield in the state quarterfinals, for its only loss.
Trumbull, which lost just twice last season, including to Mercy in the Class LL semifinals.

Hamden, which has the duo of M and Taniyah Thompson, received three first-place votes.
Farmington, a Class L finalist last season, also received a first-place vote.
