School: Simsbury High School
Allison, fondly called “Al-E-Son” by her coach and teammates, is the starting varsity field hockey goalie, a member of the National Honor Society, and a three-year Simsbury Scholar (High Honor Roll). She is secretary of Junior Civitan, and in the off-season she manages the boy’s varsity basketball team.
Sports played: Field hockey (goalie)
Athletic accomplishments: Captain and third-year starter as varsity goalie for the field hockey team. Honored last year with All-Central Connecticut Conference selection after Simsbury won its division and made it to the state Class L semifinals.
How you prepare before a game: “Every game day we dress up for our game and also each have a `sister’ on the team, and we write letters to each other to get motivated prior to a game. During warm up, we a pump up playlist of heart-racing music that we hear loud and clear on the field to get us psyched for the game.”
How did you improve most during the offseason: “During the offseason I worked on my dives and punch clears. I attended the White Mountain Sports Camps and played for Turf Burn.
Most memorable moment in your high school career “My most memorable field hockey moment has to be winning the CCC West Championship last season. Being at the top of our competitive league is absolutely an amazing feeling!”
What are you most excited about for this season: “We graduated all of our starting line last year, so I am looking forward to the excitement of leading a young, hardworking team and defending our title.
Favorite pro or college athlete: Tuuka Rask, Boston Bruins goalie
College plans: “I am planning to attend a university where I can work towards my dream of becoming a veterinarian and along the way hopefully play some field hockey.”
