St. Joseph’s girls soccer team, which heads into 2014 having won back-to-back state championships (last year in Class LL, 2012 in Class M) and three straight FCIAC titles, saw some national attention thrown its way with the release of the TopDrawerSoccer.com preseason FAB 50 girls soccer teams.
The Cadets were ranked No. 22 behind Sacred Heart Academy (of Louisville, Kentucky).
Here’s what the entry said:
St. Joseph got a measure of validation last year. Connecticut had adopted a new guideline regarding the classification of private schools for 2013, and St. Joseph, a long-time small-school state-title threat, was bumped into the state’s large-school bracket. The team responded with 22-0-1 season and a state title. While a couple key players have since graduated, St. Joseph does expect the return of junior standout and Boston College commit Jenna Bike.
Maria Carrillo High School of Santa Rosa, Calif was ranked No. 1.
