GameTimeCT editor Sean Patrick Bowley joined the crew on CT Sports Now for his usual Tuesday night spot to talk about the contestants in each of the state championship games this weekend.
The most pressing topic of conversation, of course, was whether the CIAC would move the Class LL championship venue from Shelton to Boyle Stadium. To that, SPB was basically like eh, whatever.
“If you’re not going to play it at a special place, like a Rentschler Field… if you’re not going to play it at a venue like that, these predetermined venues are — what’s the difference? Play it at Boyle Stadium. There aren’t anything really special about these venues. …if it’s going to make more people go? Play it there.”
Sean added that he’d prefer to watch all of the games at one site, but “That’s not in that era anymore. We can’t watch the three straight games on a Saturday, and one on Friday night. That’s what we should do, really. But… it just doesn’t work out that way. …Play at Boyle.”
Not 24 hours later, they did indeed move the game to Boyle Stadium.
SPB also broke down his quick thoughts on the four championship games (Spoiler alert: He likes Greenwich, Hand, St. Joseph and Bloomfield).
