Abby Poirot hit a two-run home run and pitched a complete game to lift St. Paul to a 4-3 victory over No. 1-ranked Seymour in an NVL softball game Monday at St. Paul.
The victory as St. Paul’s 13th straight since its season-opening loss to Waterford and snapped Seymour’s 23-game win streak dating back to the end of last season.
The victory was St. Paul’s first over Seymour since a 1-0 win on April 10, 2010, according to records.
Jess Persechino helped St. Paul’s cause with a solo home run while Katrina Roy and Katelynn Ouellette had two hits apiece.
Seymour trailed 4-1 in the top of the seventh when Beca Findley’s two-run home run pulled the Cats within 4-3. But Poirot got Chelsea Avila to fly out to end the game.
St. Paul improved to 13-1. Becca Johnson had two hits for Seymour (14-1).
