All Shelton’s Friday athletics events, including Friday night’s home game vs. Xavier, have been postponed due to the sudden death of a student, Football coach Jeff Roy has confirmed.
Roy released a statement on behalf of the football team after said he spoke with with athletic director John Niski and school headmaster Dr. Beth A Smith.
“Due to untimely death of Shelton High School student our game will be postponed until (Saturday) night at 7 p.m.,” he said. “All other athletic events have also been postponed.”
The postponements also include’s Friday’s boys soccer game at Lyman Hall, the girls volleyball home game vs. Foran and the corresponding junior varsity games. Because of the football game’s postponement to Saturday night, Saturday’s girls soccer game vs. Cheshire is expected to be moved up to the afternoon, likely 3:30 p.m.
