In a star-studded top half of the boys’ 18 singles draw at New England Junior Sectionals, the crown jewel of the USTA New England junior summer schedule, it was Amity star Jason Seidman who advanced to Wednesday’s championship match.
CIAC Class M champion Bradley Orban of Milford, Hopkins star Sayer Paige and Hand High’s Scott Rubinstein were among the top names in the top half of the draw but the biggest hitter was top-seeded Noah Farrell of Wilton, the CIAC Class L singles champion and 2013 Junior Sectionals finalist, who Seidman defeated 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 in Tuesday’s semifinals.
Seidman, who was the No. 4 seed, lost six games in two straight-set victories en route to the semifinals.
Seidman will play third-seeded and defending champion Charles Shewalter of Winchester, Mass. in the championship match at 11 a.m. in Amherst, Mass.
The winner in each age division will receive two tickets to the Connecticut Open, the annual WTA event played in New Haven in August and will be honored in a ceremony at Stadium Court at the Connecticut Tennis Center during the tournament.
