The Founders League is a collection of approximately 11 schools residing in mainly in the north-northwestern section of Connecticut. It was formed in 1984 from the heads of school who "sought to create shared athletic philosophies and practices for their highly selective college preparatory schools. The league excels in basketball, baseball, track, cross country, hockey, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, squash, swimming, tennis, volleyball and wrestling. It's football-playing members participate in other NEPSAC leagues: Avon Old Farms, Hotchkiss, Kent, Taft and Trinity-Pawling (NY) play in the Erickson League. Choate and Loomis Chaffee play in the Central New England League. Westminster plays in the Colonial. Kingswood Oxford plays in the Fairchester.
