Connecticut's premier high school sports website
One of the most-accomplished and organized leagues in Connecticut, the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference, or FCIAC (eff-cee-ack), is a 17-member league in populous and wealthy Fairfield County. Its schools are located along the southwestern coastline -- colloquially known as "The Gold Coast" -- and moves north along the New York border as far as Danbury. Since its founding in 1961, the league has consistently produced an overwhelming share of state champions and star athletes. The league operated with approximately 14 members in its first few decades. Its showpiece event was the FCIAC football championship, which became a model for future CIAC football playoffs and (ultimately) contributed to its cancelation after the 2015 season. At its peak, the FCIAC had 19 member schools. It expanded in 1994 with the addition of former MBIAC schools St. Joseph, Bridgeport Central, Harding and Bassick. In 2004, it added another after the Fairfield High School split. The FCAIC contracted back to 17 schools when Bassick and Harding left in 2015. League Website: www.fciac.net
