The Southern Connecticut Conference/South-West Conference Division I, II and III Boys Hockey League tournaments are starting to take shape with dates, some times and qualified teams available. Dates for the SCC Division I and II girls hockey tournaments have also been set.
“The tournaments are starting to come together and we’re looking forward to some exciting boys and girls hockey games,” SCC commissioner Al Carbone said. “Some teams have qualified for playoff spots but several teams can still qualify in every division.”
In the SCC-SWC Division III tournament, four teams qualify for a semnifinals/final format. Semifinals will be at Milford Ice Pavilion on March 5 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The championship game will be March 7 at a site and time to be determined. Newtown, 5-0 in the league, New Fairfield/Immaculate, 4-1, and Sheehan, 3-1, have clinched three playoff spots.
In SCC-SWC Division II, four teams also qualify for a semifinals/final format. The semifinals will be on March 6 and the final on March 8. Sites and times will be determined. Seven teams are still in the hunt for the four playoff spots.
The SCC-SWC Division I tournament is a one-game championship scenario where the top two teams in the standings qualify. The game will be on March 7 at a site and time to be determined. Notre Dame-West Haven and Fairfield Prep are both 3-0 in the league but Xavier, Notre Dame-Fairfield and East Haven still have a chance to qualify for a spot.
In SCC girls hockey, the Division I tournament semifinals will be Feb. 24-25 and the championship game either Feb. 26 or 27 with sites and times to be determined. There is only a championship game in Division II and it will be held Feb. 26 or 27.
