Saturday's New Haven region boys hockey roundup: Goalie Gutierrez leads No. 1 Prep over Mount St. Charles

Chris Gutierrez made 21 saves and top-ranked Fairfield Prep scored three third-period goals to put away Mount Saint Charles 4-0 and capture the Mount St. Charles Holiday tournament championship in Woonsocket, R.I., on Saturday.
Jack Hoey, Matt Wikman, Brandon Powell and Matt McKinney scored for the Jesuits (3-2).

No. 10 East Haven 5, Wilton 0 >> Nick Montesanto had two goals to lead the Easties to a non-league win in East Haven. Tristan Goodwin and Mike Falanga added a goal and an assist each for the Easties (5-0).

No. 2 Notre Dame-West Haven 5, Glastonbury 1 >> Matt Dumas had a natural hat trick as the Green Knights captured the West Haven Christmas tournament for the third year in a row.

Branford 4, Hand 2 >> Tony Pascale had two goals and an assist to lead the Hornets to an SCC-SWC Hockey League win in North Branford. Goalie A.J. Brink had 23 saves for the Hornets (3-1). Danny Braumann had a goal and an assist for the Tigers (3-1).

Guilford 4, Yarmouth (Maine) 3 >> Jack Petrick scored the game-winning goal, his second goal of the game, at 4:18 of the third period to lead the host Indians to victory. Hunter Martins made 20 saves for the Indians (1-3).

Milford 6, Trumbull 1 >> Zach White had a hat trick and two assists to lead the Indians to a non-league win in Milford. Ben LaVallee added two goals and an assist, and Noah Ericson made 29 saves for the Indians (1-2-1).
