Sacred Heart Greenwich upped its record to 2-0 by rolling to a 17-3 victory over visiting School of the Holy Child in an FAA game held on Monday.
Katie Keller, Ryan Smith and Morgan Smith each registered three goals to pace the Tigers. Ryan Smith added one assist and gathered three ground balls, while Keller and Morgan Smith each had one assist.
Amelia Sheehan continued to show her playmaking ability, tallying one goal and five assists for the victors. Athena Corroon tallied one goal, one assist, three ground balls, caused three turnovers and had one interception in the winning effort.
“We fought very hard for possession between the 30s and placed our shots against a very high level goalie,” Sacred Heart coach Tara Clough said. “We look forward to a lot of competition this week with Westminster, King and Hotchkiss.”
Franny O’Brien, Lily Deconcini, Molly Haggerty, Dylan Drury, Caroline Paul and Mia Cesare had one goal apiece for Sacred Heart, which received four saves from Rachel Keefe and two assists from Hannah Dempsey.
SACRED HEART GOLF
The Tigers won their FAA-opener, defeating Greens Farms Academy, 5-0, at Tamarack Country Club in Greenwich. Tamarack is Sacred Heart’s new home course this season.
At the No. 1 spot, Carly Haines was a 5 and 3 winner for Sacred Heart. Lianna Amoruso won her match at No. 2, 3 and 2, while Mary Grace Farrell was a 5 and 4 winner at the third spot for the Tigers.
Kate Hong also won her match at the fourth position, 5 and 4 and Malika Amoruso took a 5 and 4 decision at No. 5.
Sacred Heart’s overall record is 2-0. The Tigers will play Rye Country Day School at Tamarack in their next match.
