Behind several top-10 finishes, Sacred Heart Greenwich put forth a strong showing at the NEPSAC Division I Swimming & Diving Championships last week.
In the first event of the NEPSAC finals, which was held Saturday and Sunday at Deerfield Academy, the 200-yard medley relay team of Emma O’Connor, Erin Quigley, Catherine Hamilton and Grace Lillis combined for a seventh-place time of 1:53.95.
Hamilton, a senior finished 12th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.53. In the 50-yard freestyle, O’Connor, a senior, was eighth, posting a time of 25.55 seconds.
In the NEPSAC diving finals held prior to the swim portion of the meet, Sacred Heart sophomore Piper Van Wagenen placed seventh with a score of 326.90 points. The 100 butterfly saw Hamilton finish eighth in 1:00.14.
The Tigers’ 200 freestyle relay team of Hamilton, freshman Laura Moore, sophomore Grace Lillis and O’Connor were 10th overall in 1:44.49 at the NEPSAC finals.
O’Connor took seventh in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.27 and Quigley was 11th (1:09.74). Elisa Taylor, Karina Adams, Quigley and Moore combined for a 12th place showing in the 400 freestyle relay (3:56.35).
Sacred Heart placed 10th in the team standings (105) at the NEPSAC Championships, which was won by Greenwich Academy.
