Hackley School overcame an 18-point first-half deficit on its way to posting a 54-51 comeback win over host Sacred Heart Greenwich in a non-league game held on Monday.
The Tigers, whose record stands at 12-3, were led by junior guard Leah Atkins’ 19 points. Atkins added five steals for Sacred Heart, which received an 18-point, 11 rebound, three steal effort from senior center Sarah Eckerson.
“Hats off to Hackley, they never stopped fighting, and we just never knew what hit us,” Sacred Heart coach Ayo Hart said. “They just chipped away possession after possession, and we couldn’t score in the second half.”
Sacred Heart, which has had several players miss the past two games, while being sick with the flu, hosts St. Luke’s School on Thursday in a key FAA game at 4:30 p.m.
