Sacred Heart Greenwich concluded its regular season in impressive fashion, defeating host Millbrook School, 6-2, in a soccer game held on Saturday.
The Tigers are the No. 1 seed heading into the FAA Tournament. Since they are seeded first, the Tigers will get a first-round bye, so their next game will be in the league tournament’s semifinals on Nov. 6.
Charlotte Marvin scored the Tigers’ first goal on Saturday, tallying off an assist from Madison Hart. After Millbrook tied the score at 1-1, Amelia Sheehan tallied in the 21st minute, making it 2-1. Sheehan was set up for the goal by Fernanda Serna.
In the 32nd minute, Millbrook tied the score with a penalty kick. Isabel DeVita’s goal off Sheehan’s assist gave Sacred Heart the lead for good at 3-2 in the 34th minute.
Lara Patricio notched a goal in the 56th minute and Sheehan struck in the 69th minute for the Tigers. Marvin’s second goal came in the 71st minute. Sheehan had three assists for the victors.
“We found it hard to break them down in the first half, but we played very well in the second half and controlled the game,” Tigers coach Stuart Smith said. “We have a week to prepare and rest for the FAA Tournament, which is nice.”
