The Greenwich High School girls swimming team continued its perfect season, defeating New Canaan, 98-80, in an FCIAC West Region meet held on Saturday at the New Canaan YMCA.
In the meet’s first event, the 200-yard medley relay, Greenwich’s Samantha Ennis, Meghan Lynch, Caterina Li and Victoria Liu combined for a winning time of 1:53.07.
Freshman Peyton Foster won the 200-yard freestyle relay race for the Cardinals, clocking in at 1:56.94. Maddie Haley of New Canaan placed second in the race (2:01.07), followed by Greenwich’s Daisy Decker (2:13.49).
Liu was the 200-yard individual medley relay (2:13.75) and Li finished second in 2:13.97 for the victors. Hobert placed first in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall in 23.71 seconds. Ennis took second, followed by Skylar Mascarinas of the Rams (26.38).
Annie Bingle gave Greenwich a first-place finish on the 1-meter diving board. Bingle totaled 256.95 points.
In the 100 butterfly, Lynch touched the wall first in 59.57, while New Canaan’s Kelci Haley (1:02.46).
Li took top honors in the 100 freestyle for the Cardinals, posting a time of 53.31. Mascarinas finished second (57.94). Emma Gustaffson of the Cardinals had a first-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:27.40), while her teammate Decker placed a closed second (5:27.88).
In the 200 freestyle relay, Hobert, Emma Robinson, Sofia Wang and Ennis combined for a first-place time of 1:45.25.
Greenwich swam exhibition in the 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 400 freestyle relay and Foster had the top time in the 100 backstroke (58.71). Haley clocked in at 59.52 for New Canaan.
Lynch had the top time in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.32) and New Canaan’s Kaylana Couture finished the event in 1:14.31.
In the 400 freestyle relay, Alexandra de la Sierra, Lynch, Lillian Bjerke and Ennis had the top time in the race in 3:44.33.
