Roundup: Greenwich field hockey team tops Westhill

Staff Reports | October 23, 2020

The Greenwich High School field hockey team completed a stretch of four consecutive road games with a 6-0 triumph against Westhill on Friday.

With the FCIAC West Region win, the Cardinals raised their record to 3-2-1.

“It was a great team win,” Cardinals coach Megan Wax said. “It was their (Westhill’s) senior day and it was a great, unifying celebration of our student-athletes and especially the dedication all the seniors have put in the last four years.”

Junior Isa Lattuada started the scoring for Greenwich, tallying on a tip-in off a shot from sophomore Klara Mueffelmann. Lattuada struck again, giving GHS a 2-0 lead tipping in a shot from junior Zita Cohen.

Mueffelmann drove a shot into the cage and junior Justine Liguori tallied twice, making it 5-0. Senior Kathryn O’Donnell scored off an assist from senior Agustina Ferrario, sealing the Cardinals’ scoring.

Jorja Pastore, a senior, posted the shutout in goal. Greenwich will play its final three games of the regular season at home, starting with a game against Stamford on Wednesday at Cardinal Stadium at 4 p.m.
