Greenwich ran its record to 2-0 with a 7-1 win over boys soccer foe J.M. Wright Technical School, it’s second straight victory over the Stamford-based school.
The visiting Cardinals, who defeated Wright Tech at Cardinal Stadium on Friday, 7-0, held a 7-0 halftime lead on Monday.
“We tried to do some of the things we worked on in practice and we executed well,” Greenwich coach Kurt Putnam said. “To Wright Tech’s credit, they hung with us for the first 15 minutes of the game. The difference was, we wore them down.”
The Cards received first-half goals from junior Alejandro Rodriguez, senior Robert Heitkamp, senior Gent Gashi, Romulo Sarto (senior), Marco Tishler (junior), Alexander Patti (senior) and Jeanel Boone.
Seniors Harrison Kriebel and Adam Murad split time in goal for the Cardinals, who travel to Westhill on Wednesday for a 4:30 p.m. FCIAC West Division matchup. Westhill, which posted a 2-1 victory against Stamford in its season-opener, played the Black Knights to a 1-1 draw on Monday.
“We had a good game against Westhill last year, we only got out of their with a 1-0 win,” Putnam said. “They are going to be organized and it will be a good match. We just have got to continue to carry on what we are doing in practice each day and continue to work hard.”
