Wolcott’s Jason Pace will have to wait another day to learn if he’ll be suspended for violating the CIAC’s ‘score management’ policy in a 62-6 victory over Sacred Heart.
The CIAC told the Republican-American of Waterbury it was still awaiting paperwork from the head referee at the game.
Under ‘score management’s guidelines, game reports are required from both teams and the head official when a game goes over a 50-point margin of victory. A sportsmanship committee reviews the game situations and rules on whether the winning coach legitimately attempted to keep the score down. A coach found in violation is suspended for one game.
Last season there were two violations: Barlow defeated Immaculate 56-0 and Norwich Free Academy defeated Stamford 51-0. Barlow coach Rob Tynan was cleared of wrongdoing. NFA’s Jemal Davis voluntarily suspended himself.
