      Pomperaug boys, Masuk girls win SWC golf championships

      Mike DeRienzo shot a 78 and combined with his teammates to score a 342 as Pomperaug won the SWC golf championship at Ridgewood Country Club Tuesday. Newtown’s David Brestovansky won the individual title with a 76.

      Immaculate came in second with a 78 shot by Jack Woods, tying him for second, individually. New Milford’s Chris Davidson shot an 82 to lead New Milford and Arnold Wright an 84 for Barlow.

      In the girls championship at Brownson Country Club, Emma Michetti shot a 90 to lead Masuk to the SWC title. The Panthers shot a 398, beating Newtown by 21 strokes.

      New Milford’s Morgan Pagel earned the SWC individual title by shooting an 84.
