BERLIN — Kolby Pascarelli had two hits, four RBIs and pitched a five-inning, one-hitter as Coginchaug jumped on Northwest Catholic early in a 12-0 victory in the Class S semifinals at Sage Park.
Owen Clancy had three hits, two RBIs and scored three times while Jeremy Mangiameli had two hits, two RBIs and a run for the Blue Devils, the No. 3 seed who advance to face top-seeded St. Paul in the Class S Championship game, Friday night, 7 p.m. at Palmer Field.
This will be Coginchaug’s second state championship game appearance in its history and first in 49 years, when the school won its only state title with a 5-4 victory over Middletown in the 1972 Class S final.

Pascarelli, who will play at the University of Connecticut, threw five innings and only surrendered a single to Garrett Fusco in the third inning and allowed just one walk.
Overall, Coginchaug’s pitchers struck out 14 NWC batters and allowed just two hits. Alexander Mach struck out three in the sixth and Connor Willett struck out two in the seventh.
Willett finished with three runs scored. Coginchaug improved to 21-3.
