Outlook
It’s right there on Kennedy’s social media, a design that might make some pro teams jealous in more than one way.
Behind the Eagles’ logo, it reads, “Back 2 Back Division Champions.”
Kennedy finished off the NVL Brass title on Thanksgiving with a 7-6 win over Crosby.
“We have won the city football championship in the past two seasons and would make school history if we won a third consecutive this year,” coach Chris Sarlo said.
Here’s the rare part: The Eagles have 10 of their 11 starters back on both sides of the ball.
They’ve sent lineman Marc Soto off to college, but they’ve got the core of their team back for more.
Now, depth always seems to be an issue at Kennedy. Getting those starters a rest now and then is important. Injuries could be costly. But the Eagles have the makings of another competitive team.
“We try our best to be a ball control offense that wins the time of possession battle each game,” Sarlo said.
Desjardins, Nelson and Blagmon will serve as captains. Blagmon, still just 16, is a three-sport athlete and a National Honor Society student at Kennedy.
