Outlook
The Crusaders bounced back last year with their first winning season since 2014. A game forfeited to start the season was their only loss in the NVL Brass Division.
Holy Cross has the pieces together to be a solid team again, with Corey Fappiano back at quarterback. He was an All-NVL player last season as a punter, but his offensive abilities are well-regarded around the league, leading a couple of rival coaches to mention them as a team on the rise.
Top target DeAndre Wallace is graduated, playing this year at Arizona Western College. The Crusaders will also be young on the offensive line, with the likes of Wyatt Brennan and Albert Nieves gone, and at linebacker.
Coach Michael Giampetruzzi still likes what he has on the defensive line, led by senior Alex Ward, and in the backfield, with Vincent Graziano. They’ll also be keys on offense for the Crusaders, Ward at running back and Graziano at receiver.
It’s no simple schedule, with three of the league’s four playoff teams spread throughout, but the makings of a successful year are there.
