It wasn’t a #TweetYourBuzzerBeaters basket, technically speaking. Either way, Canton’s Cameron Lange saved his team with some buzzer-beating heroics in the NCCC semifinals Tuesday night.
Down 48-46, Lange’s jumper missed as time expired. But he was fouled on the play, which gave him two shots to tie the game. He made both.
Three overtimes later Canton emerged with a 74-68 victory. They’ll face East Windsor, a 63-60 overtime upset winner over SMSA in the other semifinal, in the NCCC Championship Thursday, 7 p.m. at East Windsor.
In fact, Lange had a hand in forcing all three overtimes. His basket with 8.5 seconds left sent it to double-OT. His 3-pointer with 30 seconds left sent it to triple-OT. He finished with a career-high 32 points.
“Cam said about 10 times in the game that we’re not losing,” Canton coach Craig Archambault told the Collinsville Press.
Canton iced the third OT with foul shots, six straight in the game’s final moments.
