Monday's New Haven County girls volleyball roundup: Atkinson leads Branford to victory

No. 1 Barlow 3, No. 8 Stratford 0 >> Rachel Santo had six kills, eight digs, two blocks and three assists for the Red Devils in their SWC tournament quarterfinal loss to host Barlow, which won 25-17, 25-9, 25-14.

No. 5 Branford 3, No. 4 Shelton 0 >> Anna Atkinson had 13 kills and 11 digs to lead the Hornets to their SCC tournament quarterfinal win in Shelton. Kaitlyn Giangregorio had 17 digs for the Gaels.

No. 1 Cheshire 3, No. 9 Sheehan 0 >> Eva Whelan had 12 kills, two blocks and two aces to lead the Rams (21-0) to their SCC tournament quarterfinal win in Cheshire. Katie Read led the Titans with 16 digs.

No. 2 Mercy 3, No. 7 Lyman Hall 1 >> Abby Nagy had seven aces, 19 digs and 12 kills to lead the Tigers to their SCC tournament quarterfinal win in Middletown. Mercy won 25-20, 25-16, 21-25, 25-21. Kim Petit had 12 blocks and nine kills to lead the Trojans.

No. 3 Amity 3, No. 6 Foran 2 >> Kathryn Pisano had 44 assists and was 13-for-14 serving to lead the Spartans to their SCC quarterfinal win in Woodbridge. Amity (17-4) won 25-20, 21-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-9. Bryzy Gonski had 45 assists and 11 digs for the Lions (13-7).
