Xavier 7, East Haven 5 >> Laurence Hill had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBI’s and pitcher John Signore got the last out to earn the save for the visiting Falcons.
Alex Parkos had two hits, Will Garrity had two RBI’s and Kyle Wollman went five innings to earn the pitching win for Xavier (13-5).
East Haven fell to 10-8.
Cromwell 10, North Branford 0 >> Senior pitcher Jake Regula went the distance with 10 strikeouts and was also 3-for-5 with two RBI’s to lead the visiting Panthers.
Logan Lessard had three hits and two RBI’s, while Kevin Radziewicz had two RBI’s for Cromwell (15-3).
The T-birds fell to 9-8.
Coginchaug 2, Morgan 1 >> At Durham, Taylor Sapia’s sacrifice fly scored John Mormile in the second inning with what proved to be the winning run as the Blue Devils (5-12) edged the Huskies (10-8).
Sapia allowed just five hits to earn the pitching win, while Mormile, who had the Blue Devils only hit, earned the save by getting the final two outs with the bases loaded in the the top of the seventh.
Portland 12, Hyde 6 >> At New Haven, Hayden Manning, Leo Thomas and Mike Bordonaro each had two RBI’s and Cole Ogorzalek scored three runs for the Highlanders (10-6).
Hyde fell to 2-16.
Valley Regional 4, Old Saybrook 1 >> At Deep River, Andrew Tuscano and Eric Jailet each had two hits as the Warriors, winners of six of their last seven, qualified for the state tournament.
Junior pitcher Tristian Suedmeier allowed only three hits and no earned runs in a complete game effort for Valley (8-10).
The Rams fell to 2-15.
East Hampton 2, Cheney Tech 1 (8) >> Marvin Gorgas went 4-for-4 with two runs scored, including the game-winning run on an error in the top of the eighth, to lead the visiting Bellringers.
Gorgas also got the win with two shutout relief innings for East Hampton (15-2).
Cheney Tech is 16-4.
Portland 18, Eli Whitney Tech 1 (6) >> At Hamden, Nicole Caruso went 5-for-5, Olivia Briggs had 4 hits, and pitchers Emily Dillon and Morgan Wyslick combined for nine strike outs while giving up only two hits for the Highlanders (2-14).
Berlin 11, Hale-Ray 3 >> Vanessa Reiner went 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBI’s to lead the host Redcoats. Makayla Harris allowed five hits for Berlin (11-4).
Faith Cooley had a triple and a run scored, and Jess Dombroski had a basehit and an RBI for the Noises (10-7).
Haddam-Killingworth 5, Valley Regional 2 >> At Deep River, Ciara Samuel had six strikeouts and Caroline Fortuna went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for the Cougars (12-3).
Emily Dona and Morgan Bakoledis each had two hits and an RBI for the Warriors (5-10).
Bristol Central 5, Middletown 4 >> Bristol Central (12-3) got a key two-run double from McKenna Driscoll in the bottom of the sixth to edge the Blue Dragons.
Maddy Landry had a triple and Alex Giardina had a double for Middletown (7-9).
Morgan 5, Coginchaug 2 >> At Durham, Kelsey Donaldson had two hits and sophomore pitcher Emily Popp allowed four hits for the Huskies (13-2).
Gabby Diaz also gave up just four hits for the Blue Devils (12-5).
Mercy 18, North Haven 9 >> At Middletown, Astin Donovan and Stephanie Mangiameli (five RBI’s) both homered, and Mary Adametz had two hits and four RBI’s to lead the Tigers.
Brianna Sawicki (10-2) earned the pitching win as Mercy improved to 14-4.
North Haven fell to 6-11.
North Branford 6, Cromwell 5 (9) >> Sabrina LeMere’s two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth lifted the T-birds to a dramatic win at North Branford (13-5).
The Panthers trailed 4-1 in the top of the seventh and tied it on a single by Taylor Polizonis. Nicole Poole had two hits, including a go-ahead RBI sngle in the ninth, and Malorie Leone had a double and a triple for Cromwell (6-9).
O’Brien Tech 39, Vinal Tech 23 >> At Middletown, Karen Agogliati had two home runs, including a grand slam, for the Hawks (3-12).
O’Brien Tech improved to 4-11.
Middletown 4, Berlin 3 >> At Wesleyan, the Blue Devils defeated the Redcoats for the first time in a decade on Monday. Seniors Alex Korik and Corrinne O’Toole, and junior Anna Thompson captured singles wins, while Amanda Bowen and Marissa Bowen captured a doubles win for Middletown (6-4).
Valley Regional 4, Haddam-Killingworth 3 >> At Deep River, Jackie Stevens and Maggie Klin earned No. 3-4 singles wins for the Warriors, while Reilly Fitzgibbons and Mackenzie Earley captured wins at No. 1-2 singles for the Cougars.
Hand 188, Mercy 195 >> At Madison Country Club, Hand’s Gabby Martin earned medalist honors with a score of 39.
Jamie Corrone and Mackenzie Dugan shot 40 and 45, respectively, to lead the Tigers (5-3).
Hand is 10-1.
Xavier 159, Shelton 170 >> Xavier earned their 12th win at Portland Golf Club. A. J. Sanzaro (39), Mike Zacariello (39), Ryan DeVille (40), and Alex Jenkins (41) scored for the Falcons (12-3).
Wyatt Zahornasky of Shelton (6-6-1) was the medalist with a score of 37.
Morgan 170, Valley Regional 181, Parish Hill 192 >> At Clinton Country Club, Luke Gagnon (42), Keegan Bauman (45), Joe diTommaso (46), Tyler Boland (48), and Justin Craco (60) scored for the Warriors.
Morgan was led by Gabe Van Ness (38) and Maxx Bugg (41).
Nick Harrington of Parish Hill earned medalist honors with a score of 37.
Berlin 6, Middletown 1 >> Robert Buczynski and Zach Fitzner earned a win at No. 2 doubles for the Blue Dragons (3-7).
Valley Regional 5, Haddam-Killingworth 2 >> At Higganum, H-K’s Zach Carmichael defeated Valley’s Elias Mueller, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 1 singles.
Will Bodnar and Kelvin Peterson earned singles wins for Valley, which swept the doubles play behind the teams of AJ Pearson and Mike Castelli, and Jason Simoneau and Fred Steno.
Cromwell 4, Coginchaug 3 >> Luke Fowler and Alex Preneta, and Brian Jubilerer and Scott Romeyn earned doubles wins for the visiting Blue Devils, who also got a win at No. 3 singles from Kyle Judson.
