Andrew Loya shot a 45 while Robert McCarthy finished with a 46. North Branford’s Brendan Appi was the medalist for the match, shooting a 41. Nick Johnson finished with a 46. Holy Cross 179, Torrington 191 >> Despite Tylar Young shooting a 42, the Red Raiders lost to Holy Cross. Alex Ledda shot a 47 and Nick LaMothe shot a 49 in the loss. Torrington is 6-7 and Holy Cross 12-1.

Northwestern 10, Gilbert 1 >> Northwestern gets past Gilbert behind a strong effort from Tony Pucino. Pucino pitched six innings, giving up one run and striking out four. Zack Risedorf went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI. John Lippincott went 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBI. Gilbert’s Nate Marshall got the loss, striking out nine and walking three. Tim Smith went 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI. Northwestern is 10-6, Gilbert is 1-13.
Terryville 8, Wamogo 4 >> Terryville earned its 10th victory by defeated Wamogo. The Kangaroos’ Dave Thorne picked up the victory, striking out three. Thorne also had three singles and two RBI. Jake Wright had three hits including two doubles. Wamogo’s Tristan Pepin had two hits including a double and a RBI. Terryville is 10-7, Wamogo is 6-10.
Westbrook 4, Litchfield 1 >> Westbrook defeated Litchfield at home. Westbrook’s Alex Hartzell picked up the victory, striking out five. Sean Antonson went 1-for-3 with a home run and one RBI. Litchfield’s Evan Shortsleeve pitched six innings striking out seven.

Northwestern 21, Gilbert 2 >> Northwestern earned its 14th win of the season by defeating Gilbert at home. The Highlanders’ Alyssa Castellani picked up the victory, striking out 11. Jess Seymour went 4-for-4 with two singles, a double, triple and four RBI. Kelsi Hodgkin went 3-for-4 with two single and a double. Gilbert’s Alyssa Jamieson went 2-for-3 with two singles. Northwestern is 14-1, Gilbert is 4-11.
Torrington 4 Naugatuck 2 >> Sara Heath hit two triples and had one RBI in the Red Raiders’ close win over Naugatuck. Sydney Matzko struck out 11 batters to get the win.
Platt Tech 21, Wolcott Tech 0 >> Wolcott Tech could not match Platt Tech’s high powered offense Monday afternoon. The Panthers’ Brooke Pawlak picked up the victory. Platt Tech’s Amber Lewandowski, Alyssa Lewandowski, Veronica Buzelle and Yasmin Hernandez each went 2-for-2. Wolcott Tech’s Jenna Lemanquais picked up the loss. Platt Tech is 18-1, Wolcott Tech is 7-11.
Thomaston 10, Shepaug 2 >> Thomaston scored early to get past Shepaug. The Golden Bears scored four runs in the first inning to take the early lead. Thomaston’s Morgan Sanson picked up the victory. Abby Hurlbert had a double and triple. Erin O’Neill and Sanson both drove in three. Nine Barone had two RBI. Kelsey Johnson picked up the loss but recorded an RBI for the Spartans.

Shepaug 7, Lewis Mills 0 >> Shepaug rolled past Lewis Mills to take home its ninth victory of the season. Shepaug’s Caroline Kelly defeated Kristen Angiletta 8-5. Shepaug’s doubles team of Maddie Gorra and Jacalyn Doerwald defeated Val Suchecki and Heather Markert 8-5. Shepaug is 9-5, Lewis Mills is 7-6.
Thomaston 6 Litchfield 1 >> The Thomaston Golden Bears remain undefeated on the season and now control their own destiny for the Berkshire League title. Makenzie Blair defeated Sabrina Cofer and Megan Fitzgerald defeated Lauren Tourtelotte to get the Golden Bears going in the first two singles. Thomaston only lost the fourth singles on their way to beating Litchfield. Thomaston is 13-0 Litchfield is 11-2.
Boys volleyball
Oxford 3, Wolcott Tech 0 >> Oxford handed Wolcott Tech its third loss of the season. The Wolverines won 25-12, 25-18, 25-19. Wolcott Tech’s Tyler Kackowski had five kills, one ace, one block and nine digs. Ryan Lojewski had three aces, one kill and 12 digs. Oxford’s Pat Cragan had 22 assists and seven kills. Nick Orban had seven kills and five blocks. Wolcott Tech is 13-3, Oxford is 16-1.

Naugatuck 2, Litchfield 1 >> Naugy pulled out an extra innings victory Sunday night at Rotary Field. It was a pitchers duel with no runs scored until the 8th inning. Joey Seraphin threw 5 innings without allowing a hit. Seraphin walked one, hit two batters, and had 9 K’s. Lance Stevens pitched a complete game allowing 1 ER to earn the win. Stevens scattered four hits, walked two, hit one batter, and had 9 K’s. Litchfield’s Brian Haugat (2-for-2 2 1Bs) scored on a wild pitch in the top of the 8th. In the bottom of the 8th Ken Graveline hit a one out single up the middle scoring Ryan Russell (0-for-1 2 HBP) and Sean Miller-Jones (1-for-4) to give the Dogs the win.
